Formula Woman Newsletter - 9th November 2022

Two weeks to go …Are You Ready!

For all those of you entering the Formula Woman competition this year, this week's newsletter sets out the format you need to be preparing for.

Please note there are some very important things you need to do prior to arriving at Bedford for your assessment, so please read on.

Plus there are some last chance opportunities and bearing in mind karting will form a large part of the assessment, you may wish to book onto one of the last minute events.

UK & INTERNATIONAL ASSESSMENTS
23RD/24TH AND 30TH NOVEMBER
BEDFORD AUTODROME.

These days are divided into six assessments which take place throughout the day, three before lunch and three after lunch. You will all be working as a team as this is what endurance racing is all about.

DRIVING ASSESSMENT

Vauxhall are supporting Formula Woman with six of the new Astra’s and after some basic instruction, you will be asked to complete three laps concentrating on lines and braking. Instructors will be looking for natural driving ability, vision and concentration.

The driving test on track carries 30 marks out of 100.

Each car carries two GoPro cameras, one facing forward and one filming you!

Wearing our Formula Woman suits and Sparco open face helmets is compulsory.

KARTING

This test will be based on a combination of who is fastest and who stays on the track. It is a race, and you will have some practice laps.

The Karting Test carries 25 marks out of 100.

FITNESS

All race drivers have to be fit and healthy. There will be six tests and you will be working in pairs as follows;

              Battle Rope
              Skipping Rope
              Sit Ups/Slam Ball pass
              Reaction Balls
              Med Ball Chest pass
              Back Lunge Row/Resistance bands

The Fitness Tests carry 20 marks out of 100.

MEDIA

You can’t be camera shy to be a racing driver and this is your chance to promote your personal sponsor by wearing a branded t-shirt or cap whilst you undertake your one-to-one media test or PTC (Piece to Camera).

The Media Test carries 10 marks out of 100.

SPONSOR AWARENESS

Motorsport doesn’t work without commercial sponsors or partners as we prefer to call them. At the assessments we have our own sponsors attending and they are all present in terms of brand exposure.

This year we are encouraging all competitors to use their phones to take still and video shots throughout the day (apart from when you are driving of course!) Social Media is a huge part of motorsport activation now.

This test is to see how you would activate and engage with sponsors and is connected to the Written Test which will be undertaken separately.

We want to see what you know about finding personal sponsors and just as important, how you look after them.

The Written Test also contains questions related to the Formula Woman online portal, so make sure you study this before you attend the assessments.

A combined 15 marks out of 100 applies to these two tests.

HAVE YOU RETURNED YOUR FORMS?

Please make sure you have returned the forms we sent you if you are attending one of the assessment days otherwise you will be unable to compete.

If for any reason you are not attending, please let us know as we have a reserve list.

Deadline for completing the online registration is Wednesday 16th November for all remaining assessment dates

It looks as though the Christmas karting will be in the form a GP event in the morning and an endurance race in the afternoon.
